Actuality The actuality of the select  topic is predefined by the fact that vocabulary aimed at denotation of color was often the object of experiments in various linguistic theories, but the features of its usage as the part of phraseology units are not enough investigated. 

Purpose. The main purpose is: to explore the various linguistic and extra-linguistic researches devoted to coloronims; compare and define the symbolic values of color in English and Ukrainian languages;to explore similar and distinctive meaning in interpretation of coloronims in both Ukrainian and English languages.

Tasks: inspect the linguistic and extralinguistic research on coloronims;describe the main groups of coloronims in modern English and their symbolic value;identify and compare the features of semantic and symbolic meaning of coloronims in English and Ukrainian;define the basic properties of phraseological units;compare the usage of semantic features of coloronims in English and Ukrainian phraseology;

The object of study:phraseological units of modern English and Ukrainian languages with coloronims.

The subject of study:semantics coloronims in the composition of phraseological units.

Scientific novelty: Scientific novelty of the work lies in the holistic analysis of the usage of phraseological units with coloronims in English and Ukrainian languages for the material of a wide range of lexicographical and phraseographic sources.

Theoretical value : Theoretical value of the research due to the need for further study of phraseological units with coloronims in light of the development phraseologia theory.

Practical value of the work: The results obtained in the study can be used in theoretical courses of lexicology, theory and practice of translation, practical exercises in English and Ukrainian languages at different learning levels.

Conclusion: Phraseological units with coloronims in English is represented mainly by adjectives, while the Ukrainian language has several color found in nouns, verbs, adjectives, derivative names of colors.
