New York City has got lots of parks. Central Park, in the middle of Manhattan Island, isn't the biggest, but it's probably the most famous. It opened in 1873 and today it's a beautiful area of about 3.4 km2 with 25 million visitors every year. The park is called the Lungs of the City because it's got over 26,000 trees. There's also a zoo with 130 different species of animals and 275 species of birds.
