Sorry time, forgiving time
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson students will be able to ask for apology in a correct way, become friendlier, realize the importance of apologizing and the value of forgiveness.
It is devotion time. We usually talk about being friendly, helpful, responsible, self-control. Today we will discuss one more very important thing for people. Look at the board and read the words.
“…forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors…”
These words are from the pray and we say it every day. Let’s say them all together once more. How do you understand them?
Now you will watch the video about happy bees.
https://youtu.be/-aEUjlxOK-Y Angry bee (…-4:40)
While watching the video make pauses at …. and ask questions.
2:20 - Do you think the angry bee will join the friends?
2:38 – Does the bee look happy?
2:47 (…race) – Do the bees look happy together? Do you think the angry bee will join the friends?
3:08 (…together) - Do you think the angry bee will join the friends to work together?
3:34 (…clouds) - Do the bees look happy flying up in the sky together?
Do you think the angry bee will join the friends?
3:46 - Does the bee look happy now?
4:40 - Does the bee look happy now? Why?
After-watching activities:
/ turn over the words SORRY on the board/
Now close your eyes and ask yourselves if there was something you want to apologize. I am sure there was. Everybody has something to be sorry for. Let’s play happy bees to apologize.
/ play the video again to demonstrate the dialogue – 0:40-0:50/
/put the speech patterns on the board and act out the dialogue with random students/
St1: I am sorry
St2: That’s OK. I forgive you.
Now act out the dialogue with the student sitting next to you.
We have a special bee to make an apology.
We feel bad about wrong things. An apology makes things better and we can work or play happily together again.
Next time when you are wrong or hurt someone accidently, don’t forget to say:
To finish our devotion, choose an apology card and write the note to your mum / dad/ sister / friend to say that you are really sorry for your behavior / words.
Example:
Mum / Dad,
I am really sorry for my behavior / words.
Please, forgive me.
