An unusual home
A I’m Tim Theakstone and I live in a very unusual home in south of Ireland. Most of my house is underground!
B The house isn’t very big. It’s got a small kitchen at the front, and next to that is a living room, with two comfortable sofas. Behind the living room are the bathroom and the bedroom. We’ve only got one bedroom.
C I live here with my wife, Jenny. She’s in the kitchen at the moment. I usually do the cooking, but Jenny’s cooking today because I’m writing this blog. She’s making a chicken dish. It smells delicious!
D We love our underground home because it’s very good for the environment. The house is never cold because it’s underground, so we don’t need any heating. We’ve also got solar panels. They use energy from the sun to heat water, and that works very well. We’ve always got hot water for a shower.
E Of course, not everything is perfect. The house is quite dark because there are only three windows at the front of the house. We’ve got a lot of lamps!
