Unit 6. WHAT’S THE MATTER?

Good Health

Early to bed early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.

This is an old English saying. Have you heard of it before? It means that we must go to bed early and get up early in the morning. Then we shall be healthy. We shall also be rich (wealthy) and clever (wise). Perhaps this is true. The body must to have enough sleep to be healthy. Children of your age should have a nine hours sleep. They will not be wise and they 'may not become wealthy! The human body also needs, exercise. Walking, running, lumping, swimming, playing games, are all exercise. Exercise keeps the body strong. Exercise also helps the blood to move around inside the body. This is very important. Our blood takes food to all parts of our body. The brain in our head also needs blood. We think with our brain. Exercise helps us to think better! Our bodies also need air to breathe. We must have plenty of clean air to stay healthy.

Unit 7. CURTAIN UP!

Read the text and choose the right answer.

Visit to the Cinema

Once I read an article about various kinds of entertainment. According to it TV, radio, and cinema have made great changes in the entertainments with which people fill their free time.

There was a time when people knew what to do to enjoy themselves: they played games, sang, played musical instruments, went out shooting.

Nowadays we can get entertained by the TV, the radio, the theatre, the cinema, and the Internet. Cinema is available no matter where you live. You can always find the film you Tike among horror films, westerns, detective, love, musical films or comedies.

Not so long ago most people used to visit cinema every week. Often cinema houses were overcrowded. But at present video production has flooded the market and cinema became less popular.

I don't go to the cinema often and my friends aren't regular cinema-goers either. But if there is a film, which is a hit with a public, I do my best to watch it. The last film I saw was Hollywood remake of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet". The action takes place in the modern world but all the rest is just like great Shakespeare had described: people, action, feelings. The original text was used in the film. And I have to mention that the music was great. I think the actors and the actresses did their best and looked great. I'll remember the film for a long time.
