I am happy to have this work

My name is Jane and I’d like to speak about my work. To tell the truth, first I wasn’t

happy when I was offered the position of a librarian in one of the city libraries. I

considered this work to be boring. To spend all day among the shelves full of books

and no one to speak with! Don’t think I hate reading, but I could hardly imagine myself in a place like that. But I needed a job so I agreed. Now I can say that my ideas about this work were а huge mistake. My first working day was really interesting. I understood that the work of a librarian is very responsible. My duty isn’t only to take care of books and to put them on the right shelf. I often meet interesting people who come to the library to look for some information. I give them advice about what book it is better to choose for reading or where they can find the information they need. I must know everything about modern and classical writers, their books, newspapers and magazines. I organise exhibitions and meetings with some well-known writers. I’m happy to help people and make their lives more sensible.
