The UK is a monarchy

The real power in Britain belongs to Parliament and the Govenment.

The Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights strengthen the Royal power.

The only duty of the Queen is to represent the UK around the world.

Some Bills passed by Parliament must have Royal Assent.

The appointments of the Prime Minister must be approved by the Queen.

Executive power belongs to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.

Prime Minister and the Cabinet lead the Government and suggest the new laws.

A Bill is a law passed down in Parliament

The Houses of Parliament represent the Legislative power.

The House of Commons consists of the members who inherit their seats.

The House of Lords has the right to hold the government to account.

The members of the House of Lords are appointed for life and their task is to sudy all the Bills thoroughly.

The laws passed down by Parliament are implemented by the system of courts which represent the Judiciary.

There are twenty-five departments in the British Government.

At the head of each department there is a Minister who is appointed by Parliament
