Travelling Tips: Dicover Venice
When in Italy visit Venice! It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with wonderful architecture , misterious passageways and romantic bridges.
The city stands on 118 islands. Every tourist enjoys a boat tour along its canals which are like the ‘streets’ in the city.
If you like to tour on foot, you can pass through the narrow alleys called calle . That way, you will see small squares where the locals hang out with their children and pets, and the small shops and cafes that give so much life to this unique city. Go to the heart of the city – St Mark’s Square or Piazza San Marco as the Italians call it. The square is famous for its Clock Tower and many pigeons. Remember, you mustn’t feed the pigeons there! It is better to have a cup of coffee in one of the most famous cafes in the square, the Caffee Florian.
Do not miss a chance to have a gondola ride. This way you will enjoy Venice at its best. It is especially beautiful when the sun starts to set. Make a stop at the Rialto Bridge, the largest and the most popular bridge in Venice, go shopping in the shops on each side and take great snapshots of the Grand Canal. Remember, gondoliers often demands more money for less time.
If you are interested in history, visit Doge’s Palace and St Mark’s Basilica in Venice. You will explore the waiting rooms, council halls, ballrooms and enjoy looking at beautiful paintings and mosaics.
