RIDGE COMMON volunteer work party 10th February
Come and help us with the conservation work at Ridge Common, every Saturday from October to March. We will spend the winter months clearing different areas at Ridge Common to help improve habitats for plants, birds and wildlife. It’s hard work, but it’s fun and you’ll make new friends with people who care about the environment. Everyone is welcome and you won’t need to have any experience. We will provide all the tools and training for each task. We will also provide tea, coffee and biscuits, but please bring a packed lunch. Meet in the car park near Ridge Common church at 10 am. Please wear suitable clothes and boots. For more information, please contact Warden Ian Jones on 07894 29855326.
Andy’s story
I worked as a volunteer for the first time last week and I really enjoyed it, so I’ve decided to come every week from now on. The volunteer group has already cleared a large area so that the wild flowers can grow. This will help the butterfly population. We’ve also collected a lot of rubbish and litter. I don’t know how people can leave litter in such a beautiful place. It’s crazy! I think we’ve made a big difference already. If more people do voluntary work, we’ll help save our countryside.
