Holidays in Ukraine.

New Year- Новий рік. Christmas- Різдво. St. Valentine`s day-День Закоханих . 8th OF March- День Матерів. Easter-Пасха. April Fool`s day- День гумору. The day of children-День дітей. The constitution of Ukraine-День конституції України. The Іndependense Day-День Незалежності. Halloweеn- Хеллоуін.

New Year New Year’s Eve all Ukrainian celebrate on the 31st of December. Most people see with friends and relatives. At midnight they sings New Year songs and wishes a happy New Year!!!

Christmas On the 7th of January there is the greatest holiday of all in Ukraine – Christmas. On Christmas people celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. People send Christmas cards to their friends and relatives. People go to church as a tradition, buy a Christmas tree and decorate it with toys, different coloured balloons and garlands. Children wake up early to find stockings full of small presents on their bed.

St. Valentine’s day is celebrated On the 14th of February .This holiday is called so because St Valentine is the patron of sweet hearts. People send Valentine’s cards to someone they love. Usually they don’t sing them – you must guess who sent cards to you.

In the 8th of March there is a holiday for Ukrainian women -Womens` Day. The men try to help for their wife at home and give them presents. On that day they visit their mothers *and give them presents and “A Mother’s Day Card”

Easter Another great national holiday is Easter, In April or at the end of March Ukrainian people celebrate Easter. The holiday of celebrating Christ`s rising from the died. It is a time of giving and receiving presents. The Easter egg is the most popular emblem of the religious holiday. On Easter Sunday children get chocolate eggs and rabbits.

April Fool’s Day April Fool’s Day is on the 1st of April. Ukrainian children like this day very much. They play jokes and tricks on other people, even on teachers.

In Ukraine children go to school on the 1st of September. They begin to study. It is the day of knowledge!!!

Halloween On the 31st of October there is Halowe’en. The symbol of this holiday is "Jack o'lantern". People make it from a pumpkin.   Children like Haloween parties, they put on witch’s and  ghost’s dresses. They go “trick or treat”.
