There are four seasons in a year: winter, spring, summer and autumn 

Winter

Winter is the coldest season of the year. There are three months in winter: December, January and February.

It is usually cold and snowy in winter. It’s often slippery and frosty. The sky is grey. There are no leaves on the trees and there are no flowers.  The days are short and the nights are long.

People usually wear warm clothes: hats, coats, mittens or gloves, scarves, boots, sweaters and trousers.

We can play snowballs and make a snowman in winter. We can ski and ice-skate. New Year and Christmas are in winter.

Spring

Spring is a great season of the year. There are three months in spring: March, April and May.

It is usually warm and windy in spring. The sky is blue. Flowers and trees start to grow. Birds sing their songs. The days become longer and the nights become shorter. 

People usually wear jackets, trousers, jeans, shoes or trainers.

We can play in the park, ride our bikes and rollerblade in spring. Women’s Day, Easter and Mother’s Day are in spring.

Summer

Summer is the hottest season of the year. There are three months in summer: June, July and August. 

It is usually hot and sunny in summer. The leaves on the trees are green. There are lots of flowers. The days are long and the nights are short.

People usually wear light clothes: T-shirts, shorts, skirts, dresses, sandals… We go on holidays in summer.

We can swim in the sea and eat ice-cream in summer.

Autumn

Autumn is a beautiful season of the year. There are three months in autumn: September, October and November.

It is usually cool and wet in autumn. It’s often rainy. The leaves on the trees are yellow, red orange or brown. The days become shorter and the nights become longer.

People usually wear jackets, trousers, jeans, shirts, shoes. On rainy days people wear raincoats and rubber boots.

We start school in autumn.

We can play in the leaves and fly a kite in autumn.

Halloween and Teacher’s Day are in autumn.
