T : So we have made one more step in learning English. We have learned the theme
“ My Homeplace ”. Today we are going to summarize everything you’ ve learned
on this theme.
At the lesson:
T : At home you had to prepare the stories about the streets you live in but before listening to
them I’d like you to revise the names of the places you can see in the street and the activities
you do there.
T : Unfortunately we have no time to listen to all your stories.
But we’ll find a few minutes to interview the other pupils.
So Daryna will make a survey.
Get ready to answer her questions.

T : Let’s remember everything you can see walking along the street. So , doing the next task will not be
difficult for you. Match the pictures with the words.

T : Pryluky is not the only beautiful town in Ukraine. There are a lot of cities to visit and places
of interest to see. Let’s make an imaginary trip to one of them. Look at the photos.

Kyiv
Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. There is a river in Kyiv. It is called the Dnieper. There are some bridges over the Dnieper. The Paton Bridge is one of the most famous bridges.
Kyiv is green. There are many parks in the city. The biggest one is called Hydro Park. There are different attractions there.
Kyiv is old and beautiful. You can go down Andriyivskyi Uzviz or Volodymyrska Hirka. There are a lot of churches and cathedrals in Kyiv. You can visit museums and galleries or theatres and cinemas.
Kyiv underground is called Metro. It is a very busy place. You can see hundreds and thousands of people there. The main street of the city is called Khreshchatyk. People like walking along this street.
There are lots of shops, markets, banks and restaurants in Kyiv, too. Lots of people visit Kyiv every day.

T: Oxford is not less beautiful town. Look at the picture and listen to the text about Oxford.
Oxford is a town in Britain. It is not very big but it’s very famous for its university, which is
the oldest in Britain. The University has 35 colleges. Oxford is not only a university city. It is
a nice place where there are historic buildings, shops, restaurants and cinemas. The town is very
busy – in summer there are too many cars and too many people. About one million visitors come
to Oxford every year.

T: Now it’s time for writing. Look at the picture and describe it. Keep in mind the sentences which
describe the place we start with “ There is…\ There are…”. Pay attention to using the proper
prepositions ( opposite, behind, between, in front of, at, next to…)
