A day in New York

One Friday evening Jane called from New York.

“What are you and Dad doing tomorrow?” she asked. “Would you like to meet me in the city?”

“Why not?” said Susan. “We don’t go into the city together very often.”

Ted, Maria, and Gilberto decided to go, too. They met Jane at her apartment on the West Side. It was small but comfortable, and it had a nice view of Riverside Park. From there, they went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They looked at many pictures, and Maria told them all about the painters.

After they left the museum, they had lunch in a coffee shop. Then they went to Macy’s department store. Susan, Jane, and Maria found some nice comfortable dresses for Maria. Ted helped Gilberto buy some new running shoes. Sam bought some, too.

Next, they went down to SoHo and walked around. Susan and Maria were interested in the new shops and galleries. Sam was more interested in the restaurants. On every street there were wonderful smells. Finally, he said, “How about dinner? I’m hungry!”

Everyone else was hungry, too. They stopped at a Thai restaurant and had a delicious meal.
