Festive Time

I.                Read and name the holiday you read about:

1. People celebrate this holiday in winter. All over the country there were parties, fireworks, singing and dancing. When Beg Ben struck midnight British people linked hands with everyone next to them and sing a traditional English song "Auld Lang Syne".

2. It is our personal holiday. On this day we usually invite our friends for the party. We sing, dance, play different games and eat tasty things. We get a lot of presents from our relatives and friends.

3. This is the day of love and friendship. A very popular tradition is to write cards in a shape of heart for parents and friends. These cards are decorated with red roses or Cupid, the Roman God of love.

4. People open their presents in the morning on this day. The small children have a stocking full of little presents on the fireplace or next to their bed. The other presents are under the tree in the living room.

5. On this day people go to church, give thanks to Christ, sing special songs – hymns. They say that on this holiday bunny brings coloured eggs. Families sit for a big dinner. People like eating roast lamb and hot cross buns.
