Today was Black Friday, and it was one of the craziest days ever! The mall was extremely crowded, and it was hard to walk because there were so many people everywhere. Megan and I went together, and her mom dropped us off after lunch. We had been planning this shopping trip for weeks because we both wanted to buy something special and had saved up our money.

Our first stop was Claire's. I had been dreaming about a pair of butterfly earrings that I had seen in the shop window before. They were silver with tiny sparkling gems, and I thought they were perfect. I went straight to the display to get them, but then something really annoying happened.

Jessica showed up. She is kind of my frenemy at school because she always tries to compete with me. When she saw me looking at the earrings, she quickly grabbed them and smiled in a very unfriendly way. She said, “Oh, were you going to buy these?
