Different Tastes in One Family

In our family, everyone enjoys watching films or going to the theatre, but we all have different preferences. For us, it’s more than just entertainment — each type of performance gives us something special.

My mother, Anna, is a true theatre lover. She believes that nothing can replace the atmosphere of a live performance. “When you watch actors on stage,” she says, “you feel their emotions more deeply. Every performance is unique.” She also likes the beautiful costumes, the live music, and the fact that theatre often deals with important life topics. Her favourite play is Romeo and Juliet. She says it always makes her think about love, family, and choices.

My father, Oleg, prefers action movies. He enjoys fast-paced stories, impressive stunts, and special effects. For him, cinema is a way to escape from daily routine and feel adrenaline. He often watches films like Mission: Impossible or John Wick. “I know it’s not real,” he laughs, “but it’s so exciting that I forget about work for two hours.”

My older sister, Maria, is a fan of psychological thrillers. She enjoys stories with unexpected twists and strong characters. She says thrillers make her think and keep her interested until the very end. “They’re like puzzles,” she explains. “You never know what’s going to happen next.” Her favourite film is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

As for me, I like comedies. Life can be stressful, and a good comedy helps me relax and feel better. I enjoy clever jokes, funny situations, and cheerful characters. My all-time favourite is Home Alone. I’ve seen it many times, but it still makes me laugh.

Even though our tastes are different, we often talk about the films or plays we’ve seen. Sometimes we even watch something together. It’s interesting to hear other opinions — and we always enjoy sharing popcorn.
