Hi Grandma! We’re staying in a really great hotel. It’s got a wonderful restaurant and pool. The food is fantastic and all the waiters are really kind. We can’t play tennis outside, but I like visiting museums and there’s a really famous one in the town. We can go there tomorrow. I can’t wait! Mum’s OK, but she doesn’t like the weather. She says it’s too cold. From our window you can see the river but not the sea! We’re coming home on Saturday. I’d like to come and see you at about eight o’clock. I’ve got a present for you!

Mike is an American boy. He lives in Los Angeles, California. He lives with his family in a new house. He is eleven years old and he has got an older brother, David, and a younger sister, Emma.
He starts his day at about half past seven. He gets up, goes to the bathroom, takes a shower, brushes his teeth and gets dressed. Then he has breakfast and at a quarter to eight he leaves home and catches the bus to school.
Classes begin at half past eight. He usually has lunch at the school canteen at half past twelve. After school, at a quarter past five, he goes home. There he does his school homework and when he finishes it he helps his Mum laying the table. At half past seven the family dines together.
Mike is a very helpful boy, so he helps his mother cleaning up everything after dinner.
He usually watches TV for a while after dinner and at about ten o’clock the most he brushes his teeth again, puts on his Spider-Man pajamas and goes to bed. His parents always kiss him goodnight before he gets asleep. Mike is a very happy boy!

Text #2. Dear Jim,
I’m writing about my winter holidays. On January 11th I travelled to Italy with my aunt Polly. We travelled by ship for a week. Of course it’s a long way from America to Europe, but it was really exciting because the ship was very big, and there were shops, cafés, swimming pools, a cinema and a gym on board. First the ship visited Spain and the south of France. On January 18th we arrived in Italy. Then we travelled by train. It’s a wonderful country! We stayed there in a hotel in the mountains. We went skiing every day. I had never skied before, but our trainer was very good. So on the third day I could ski down the hills. It was fantastic! We went back to the States by plane. Our plane to Chicago was on January 28th. It was the first time I have flown by plane. Usually we travel around the country by train or by car. I’ll never forget my journey to Europe! What did you do on holidays? Write soon.
Bye, Alex
