Schooling in Kyiv
1. The first school appeared in 988.
Under the reign of Prince Yaroslav the Wise the first state schools appeared.
They had schoolbooks: Book of the Apostles and the Book of Psalms.
In 1086 the granddaughter of Prince Yaroslav the Wise Olga established a
school for girls.
In the 14th - 15th centuries Kyiv became the centre of manuscripts.
Brotherhoods protected the rights of Ukrainian people.
Petro Mohyla founded a school for young boys in the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
We do not have any information about the system of education after the Roman invasion.
Тhe first Brotherhood School was founded in 1615 in Kyiv.
The students studied theology and grammar, rhetoric, geometry and arithmetic which they taught in English.
