Music.What is an orchestra?

An orchestra is а large group of people who play music together on different instruments. А modern orchestra can have more than 100 people in it and make а lot of different kinds of music. Every large orchestra needs а conductor. When the orchestra performs, the conductor stands at the front and leads the musicians. Не shows them when the music is fast or slow, loud or quiet. 

There are four groups of instruments in an orchestra. These groups are called strings, brass, woodwind and percussion. Many orchestras also have а piano. 

Strings- This very large group sits close to the conductor. You can find instruments like the violins 

and cellos here. This group of instruments is very important and 

is sometimes called the heart of the orchestra. 

Woodwind -This section is behind the strings section. Some of the instruments in the woodwind section are clarinets, flutes and oboes. 

Brass- This part of the orchestra is loud and strong. Examples of instruments in the brass section are trumpets and French homs. 

Percussion - These are instruments you hit to make а sound. Drums and xylophones are part of this group but there are lots of other kinds of percussion instruments, too.
