Fresco painting is a method of painting on drily plastered wall.

The painting is very durable.

In the Kyivan Rus’ the mural was the principal method of decorating church  interiors.

Mosaics adorned churches only in the 12th and 13th centuries

Mosaics were not mixed with frescoes in the same building. 

Harmony between mosaic and fresco in Ukrainian church art was achieved by

              using the same dominant colors.

Saint Sophia Cathedral is the most famous examples of this decorative

              system.

The origins of fresco painting in Ukraine can be traced back to the

           5th century BC.
