What room is it?

Objectives:

• to practice using new vocabulary for kind of rooms;
• to develop speaking skills;
• to develop reading skills;
• to write sentences about furniture in the room.

Equipment: textbooks, a notebook, whiteboard, copybooks.

At the end of the lesson students will be able to:

• reinforee vocabulary on the topic;
• describe favorite room;
• work in groups to drill vocabulary

Procedure

1. Introduction

1. Greetings

T. Good morning, dear children! I’m glad to see you again! Let’s greeting with a song.

2. Aim

Today we are speaking about our home. You’ll repeat words and guess what room is it.

3. Warming up

Now let’s repeat the words and sing a song “The house song”

1. Reading

• Pre-reading activity

1. Guess the riddles. 

Listen the question and guess what is it?

1. A place where we can live? (a house, a flat)
2. In this room there is a table, a mirror and a bed. We sleep here. What is this? (a bedroom)
3. In this room there is a table, chairs, armchairs, a sofa, a TV and a carpet. (a living-room)
4. There is a dishwasher, a fridge, plates, cups. We usually cook here. (kitchen)
5. There is a bath, a toilet, a mirror. We usually take a shower there. (a bathroom)

2. What’s this?

Open your books at p.43 ex.1. Make words, read the sentences and match them.

Key: sofa – 4, bed – 1, wardrobe – 5, bookcase – 3, armchair – 6, carpet -2.

Look at the ex.2 p.43. Now we listen the message.

And now let’s read it. (Children read the message one by one)
