The Magic World of Words

І contest: “Make – a – word game”

 Look at the card. Fill in the boxes with missing letters of the alphabet and make a word with these letters.

II contest: “ Correct a letter”

Put in the missing letters and read the message.

Pupils recite the poems.

III contest: “Sending - receiving  telegrams”

To send a telegram an operator has to spell the words of it.

One team spells the telegram, the other receives it. Then you do vice versa. Read the receiving telegrams.

Texts: “We like our English lessons”

          “ Our Gymnasium is very good”

          “We are happy to live in Ukraine”

The game with the spectators “Simon says”

You show only what Simon asks:

Sit still, stand up, clap your hands, take a book, sleep, touch your head, touch your nose, go to the blackboard, rise your hands, sit down, say “hello”…

IV contest: “ The cut words”

Make some words from different parts.

The words: hobby, present, museum, computer, breakfast, weekend.

V contest: “Make a sentence”

The words in the sentence are mixed. Write them correctly.

 holidays, many, places, our, visited, spring, interesting, we, during

“During our spring holidays we visited many interesting places”.

Pupils recite the poems.

VI contest: “National Wisdom”

There are cards with English proverbs and the cards with Ukrainian ones. Find the equivalents.

First think, than speak.

East or west, home is best.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

All is well, that ends well.

Слово не горобець, вилетить – не впіймаєш.

В гостях добре, а вдома краще.

Друг пізнається в біді.

Все добре, що добре закінчується.
