FOOD WE EAT

Procedure

  1. WARM-UP.

T: Good morning, pupils. Today we are going to talk about food we like to eat. But first, let’s remember the words on the topic “Food” repeating them after me.

(Teacher Shows cards with the pictures of food and names them. Pupils repeat the words after the teacher).

Cucumber, cabbage milk, apple onion, carrot, lemon, tomato, vegetables, fruit, sugar juice, cream, hamburger sausage.

T: Are you ready to start a journey into the world of food, but it won’t be easy. We will have to walk through the valley of cheese, swim across the milk sea, climb the hill of sugar and pass by the pizza Isles.

  1. MAIN PART.

1.VOCABULARY REVISION.

T: First, there is a valley of cheese on our way. Children, do you know this boy? Yes, you’re right. It’s Dunno. As you know, he often confuses things. Dunno is going to name the food in the pictures. Be ready to correct him if he confuses things.

Dunno: It’s a fish.

Ps:  Yes, you’re right.

Dunno: It’s salt.

Ps: No, you’re wrong. It’s sugar.

 T: Look at the blackboard. You can see the pictures of Winnie-the-Pooh, Carlson, the wolf, a cat, a monkey, a squirrel, a rabbit.

Each of them has their own favourite food. What can you offer Winnie-the-Pooh.

P1: His favourite food is honey.

P2: He likes candies.

T: What about monkey?

P3: Monkeys like bananas.

P4: They like sweets.

T: Do you know which food can be fresh, sour, hot, ripe, salty, sweet, bitter, tasty?

P1: Meat can be fresh, tasty, salty.

P2: Fish can be fresh and salty too.

P3: Tea can be hot and sweet.

P4: Candies are sweet.

P5: Oranges and apples are sweet and tripe.

P6: Lemon is sour.

T: Look, we crossed the valley of cheese.

 

2. LISTENING.

T: Can you see the milk sea ahead? Are you ready to swim across it?

Listen to the poem and choose pictures of the food you will hear in it.

Some of us like brown bread,

Some of us like white,

Some of us eat a lot of meat,

Some don’t think it’s right.

Some of us like apples,

Some drink juice at night,

Some of us eat lots of sweets,

Some don’t think it’s right.

T: You can see three pictures on the blackboard. Listen to the text and decide which picture is describes.

It is dinner time. All members of the family are at the table. There are four of them: a father and mother and two children. They are in the café. They are having dinner. They are eating soup, brown bread, cucumber and tomato salad.

P1: I think it’s picture 1. There are four people in it. They are sitting at the table.

P2: They are a family. They are having dinner.

T: Well done! You are crossed the milk sea.

 

3. SPEAKING.

T: Let’s continue our journey. Can you advise your friend which food he should take for a journey?

P1: Take some fruit.

P2: Take some bread and cheese.

T: Can you give a recipe of your favourite dish?

P3: I can make a vegetable salad. I take 2 cucumbers, 3 tomatoes and an onion, some salt and some oil. My salad is very tasty.

T: Could you tell me what you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner?

P4: I have some bread with butter and a cup of tea for breakfast.

P5: I like some cereal with a milk for lunch.

T: I wonder how you behave at a dinner table. Are you ready to role-play the family dinner?

P1: Enjoy your meal.

P1,2,3: Thank you.

P3: Pass me some salt, please.

P4: Here you are.

P3: Thanks.

P1: A cup of tea, Nick?

P2: No, Mum, thank you.

T: Well done! You have a climbed the hill of sugar.

 

4. WRITING.

T: To pass by the isle of pizza you have to find and write down the sentences which describe the picture “Vicky’s birthday”.

It’s Vicky’s birthday.

Bill likes milk.

Mittens are red.

These are friends.

A cake and some fruit are on the table.

 

  1. SUMMING-UP.

T: You have done a lot today in the lesson and our journey was exciting. At home write a recipe of your favourite dish.
