Today we are going to speak about the seasons , which you like . By the end of the lesson you will be able to operate words and word-combinations for the topic in different situations. You’ll practice to use the words on the topic in speech and improve your reading skills, speaking skills and comprehensions skills. I wish you luck.

 

Teacher: Dear children, today I prepare for you a proverb. Let’s read it and guess what it is about.

Погода — улюблена тема для розмови в Англії. Коли зустрічаються два англійці, їхніми першими словами будуть: «Як ваші справи?» А після відповіді «Спасибі, дуже добре; а у вас?» наступна фраза, найімовірніше, буде про погоду. Коли англійці їдуть за кордон, вони часто дивують представників інших національностей своєю схильністю говорити про погоду, тобто на тему, яку інші не вважають цікавою.

1. The weather is cold. Usually it snows. The days are short and the nights are long. You can see snow everywhere. The rivers and lakes freeze and we can go skating and skiing.

 

2. It is a very nice season. The weather is fine, it is warm. There are many green trees in the streets, in the parks and in the yards. Sometimes it rains, but as usual the sun shines brightly. The birds return from the hot countries and make their nests.

 

 

3. It is hot or warm. The days are long and the nights are short. There are many green trees and nice flowers in the parks and in the squares in summer. The pupils don't go to school, they have got their summer holidays.

Spring

 

           Spring is a beautiful season. Days become longer. The sky is blue and cloudless. The birds sing in the trees. The trees and grass are green.

           The weather is nice in spring. In March the snow melts. Sometimes it rains   in April and May. There are a lot of flowers in the fields.

         Children like spring. They can play out-of-doors after the lessons. We have a lot of holidays in spring too. They are: the 8th  of March, Mother’s Day, Easter, Victory Day.

Autumn

 

Autumn comes after summer. Early autumn is very warm. It is beautiful. The leaves on the trees are yellow, red and golden.

    In autumn children go to school.  They have less free time.

Winter

                People wear warm clothes. Children like winter very much. They can play snowballs, make snowman, sledge, and ski, skate and play hockey. They spend a lot of time out-of-doors.

There are four seasons in the year. Spring, summer, autumn and winter are the four seasons. March, April and May are the spring months, June, July and August are the summer months, September, October and November are the autumn months, December, January and February are the winter months.

Spring is a very beautiful season. The weather is usually warm, but there are sometimes cold days in spring. Nature awakens in spring. Birds return from the South. Trees turn green, young fresh leaves appear, grass become green, too.

When summer comes, the weather gets warmer and sometimes it’s hot. It’s a busy time for those who live in the country. There is a proverb “Make hay while the sun shines.” It sometimes rains and there are storms in summer.

When autumn comes the days get colder. But sometimes it is warm in late September. It is called Indian Summer. The trees turn yellow. The leaves begin to fall from the trees. Autumn is harvest time. The farmers gather crops and pick fruits in the orchards.

Winter is the coldest season. The air is frosty. The wind blows in winter. The days are the shortest and the nights are the longest. There is a proverb “A snow year is a rich year.”

 

So, there is a proverb “Every season is beautiful in its own way.’

One famous poet said : “I see no reason to speak on prize of any season.”
