Тема уроку: Shops and shopping in Great Britain

Мета: активізувати лексичні одиниці теми; удосконалити навички діалогічного і монологічного мовлення з опорою на малюнки, предмети; розширювати уявлення учнів про продукти харчування та їх значення в житті людини, розвивати комунікативні здібності й навички користування англійською мовою; виховувати свідоме ставлення до вибору продуктів харчування(здорове та шкідливе харчування), правил поведінки між покупцями і продавцями.

Обладнання: підручник 6 класу Карпюк, малюнки, картки, “пазли”, пакети з предметами.

Хід уроку

І. Організаційний момент.

1.Привітання . Good morning, pupils! I’m glad to see you!(Слайд 1)

P. We are glad to see our teachers. Look at the screne!

 

2.Проблемне питання

 Usually two or more people take part in this process.

 We can’t do it without money.

 What is it?

Pupils: - Shopping!

 - Yes, we are going to speak about shopping. I think, it’s very important because we need many things for our life. So I’m sure that we cannot imagine our life without shops. We’ll try to make dialogues, learn new words. We have a lot of work. Let’s start.

T. Dear children, today  we will work in 4 groups: baker's, newsagent's, greengrocer's and chemist's.

Teacher: I’ve brought packets with different products and goods which I’ve bought at the market and shops. Will you remind me what we can buy at the market and shops. You’ll show the thing and say we can buy  …   . (робота з предметами -15).

Pupils: rolls, buns, cakes, bread; copybooks, pens, magazines, pencils; oranges, potatoes, bananas, carrots; medicines, toothpaste, shampoo and bars of soap.

T. So I’m sure you know different kinds of shops and we can buy different products and goods very well. And now I’d like to know if you could do shopping yourself. First, let’s look at the puzzle cards on your desk. You can see the parts of the dialogues in the form of the puzzles. Put them in correct order to make a dialogue.

T. Let’s read the dialogue and act it out:

You did this work very well but children do you know what has an influence on our health? (Food, environment etc.) And what else? Of course, you are right. They are physical exercises. And now I propose you to relax a little bit. Please, stand up and do some exercises.

Shopping

  When we want to buy something we go to a ¹______. There are many kinds of shops in every town or city, buy most of them have a food supermarket, a department store, men's and women's clothing stores, grocery, a bakery and a butchery.

   I like ²___________ at big department stores and supermarkets. They ³___ various goods under one roof and this is very convenient. A department store, for example, is composed of many ⁴_______: ready-made clothes, shoes, sports goods, toys and glass, cosmetics, cameras, records, etc. You can buy everything you like there.

   There are also ⁵_______ in big stores which take customers to different floors. The things for sale are on the counters so, that they can be easily seen. In the ⁶_____clothing department you can find dresses, costumes, blouses, skirts, coats, beautiful underwear and many other things. In the ⁷_____ clothing department you can choose suits, trousers, overcoats, ties, etc.

    In a ⁸_____ supermarket we can also buy many different things at once: sausages, fish, sugar, macaroni, flour, cereals, tea. At the ⁹______ there is a wide choice of meat and poultry. At the ¹⁰_____ you buy brown and white bread, rolls, biscuits.

   Another shop we frequently go to is the greengrocery which is stocked by cabbage, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots, beetroots, green peas and what not. Everything is sold here ready-weighed and packed. If you call round at a dairy you can buy milk, cream, cheese, butter and many other products.

   The methods of shopping may vary. It may be a self-service shop where the ¹¹_____ goes from counter to counter selecting and putting into a basket what he wishes to buy. If it is not a self-service shop, and most small shops are not, the shop-assistant helps the customer in finding what he wants. You pay money to the cashier and he gives you back the change.
