Хід уроку

Warm-up

Revise the classroom vocabulary and prepositions. Tell pupils, “Stand at the board, Max. Put your pen under the book. Go to the board,” etc.

Ask pupils to listen to the CD and point to the correct picture.

Listen the CD two or three times. Pupils point to the pictures in pairs or individual. Practice


  1. Listen and repeat. (p.38, ex.2).

Tell pupils to look at the pictures again. Tell pupils that they are going to repeat the poem using the pictures from the book. The teacher can write the words of the poem on the board. The pupils read the words of the poem, pausing after each line. Pupils repeat the phrases chorally or individually. Play the CD. Chant the poem chorally or in groups.

Warm-up

  •      “Stand up!” Game

Revise the classroom vocabulary and prepositions. Tell pupils, “Stand at the board, Iryna. Put your pen under the book, Max.” etc. If necessary, mime the actions.

  •      “Alphabet Race” Game

Divide the class into two teams. Write the small letters of the alphabet at random across the board as the class chant out the alphabet all together: a, b/c, d, e, f, etc.

Call out one player from each team. Give some chalk to each one. Explain that they are going to have an “Alphabet Race’.

Call out any letter of the alphabet, in random order. The two players race to find it on the board. One team puts crosses(X) through letters if they find them first, and the other team puts circles round letters (O). After every two or three letters, two new players come out and take over the race.

Write the words of the poem on the board. Ask pupils to read the sentences individually pointing at the numbers.

Draw a face of a clock. Write the time under the face, “It’s 12 o’clock.” Play the CD again. Ask pupils to point to the time on the clock.

Draw or stick twelve faces of the clocks. Then draw different times on these clocks and write the time under each face. Ask pupils to read the time under each clock.

Hide an object behind your back, so pupils cannot see it, and ask pupils to guess what it is, e.g., “Is it a (pen)? – Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.”

  •      “Miming game” Game

Give pupils instructions to mime actions (for example, what they do at an English lesson) for the other pupils to guess. These instructions can be written on slips of paper so pupils can use the words from the chant again.

  •      “The Guessing Bag” Game

The small bag should contain small cards or squares of paper, each with one of the small letters of the known letters on it.

Divide pupils into two teams. Draw one letter-card out of the bag and challenge each team in turn to think of a word beginning with that letter. One team member then spells out the word suggested. Play several rounds for each team and keep scores on the board.

You can also play this by drawing class actions on the board, and rubbing them out one at a time.
