На тему: “We are the best at English”

проведеного в 5 – А класі

Тема:  “Who is the best at English”.

Мета:  розширити та поглибити знання учнів з англійської мови, визначити рівень володіння іноземною мовою,  розвивати інтерес до вивчення мови, виховувати почуття дружби.

Завдання: згуртування учнівського колективу; розвиток комунікативних здібностей , творчого мислення.

Форма проведення: квест. Змагання - конкурс.

Вид діяльності: пізнавально-ігрова.

Вік дітей: 10-11 років, для учнів 5-А класу.

Обладнання: проектор, допоміжний матеріал: картки, презентація, демонстраційні картинки, м'яч для гри.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Хід заходу:

 

  1. The beginning of the lesson

1 narrator: Good morning, children and our guests. Welcome to our competition. Dear children! Today we have an unusual lesson. We are going to have a quiz “Who is best at English?” I am glad to see you here today. I know that all of you are very hardworking, smart and clever pupils, who are fond of English. 

 

 Warming up

2 narrator: Well, it’s time to start our contest! The members of our jury are the teachers and students. Now you should form 2 teams. Choose the card and who gets it with number 1 will sit on the right, pupils with card number 2 – on the left.

1 narrator:  You should choose the name of your team and a captain. So, we have two teams and two captains. Dear capitans! Introduce your teams.

2 narrator: The teams are formed and we can start our quiz. I wish you good luck.

2. The main part

Round 1. “My favourite letter”

1 narrator: Our first competition is called “My favourite letter”. I will give you letter and your task will be to write as many words, which begin with this letter, as you know. For every word you will get 1 point. So, for each letter you will have 1 minute. Letters: K, M, S.

Round 2 “Counting”

2 narrator: The text competition is “Counting”. I need two pupils, one from each team. You have to count from 1 to 20 and from 20 to 1. The quickest one will get the point.

Round 3 “Mistakes”

1narrator: One more competition is called “Mistakes”. Cards are given to the teams where they are to find 1 extra word. You have 2 minutes.

Card:

1. peach, pear, chicken, apple, banana

2. tail, cat, mouse, dog, rabbit

3. bird, airplane, kite, helicopter, bus

4. red, sun, green, purple, brown

5. cold, warm, dry, sky, cloudy 

Round 4 “Snowball”

2 narrator : Now, we will play a game “Snowball”. Listen to the task attentively. First pupil tells about his hobby:  «My hobby is...». Next pupil repeats the information and adds his: «Her/His hobby is .... And my hobby is ...». The third pupil tells «Their hobbies are.... And my hobby is...» And so on. Teams do this competition turn by turn asking the members of the opposite team. If someone fails he takes his seat. The last man who stands – is the winner.

Round 5 “Build words”

1 narrator:  The next competition is called “Build words”. Pupils, please, choose 4 members from each team. They will be sticked with two letters on their front and back, and they are to make words that are shown on the screen as quick as possible.

For team 1 such letters: C, k, o, n, r, s, w, t, a  

Words: Corn, rock, snow, coat, town

For team 2 such letters: S, t, e, o, i, a, m, l

Worlds: Soil, team, melt, salt, meat

Break

1 narrator:  Now we will listen to the song: “Clap your hands”. Repeat, please, the words after us and do the same actions as you see on the screen.

Round 6 “Translator”

2 narrator: You will see Ukrainian variant of the sentence and you should translate it. The first sentence will be for Team 1, the second – for team 2 and then in turn.  If you make mistake, sentence will be translated by the opposite team.

  1. Великобританія розташована в Європі на Британських островах.        The UK is situated in Europe, on the British Isles.
  2. Люди,які живуть в Британії  є британцями.

People who live in Great Britain are Britains.

  1. У Великій Британії є 10 великих національних парків.

There are ten very big national parks in Great Britain.

  1. Україна є незалежною державою.

Ukraine is an independent state.

  1. Дніпро - найдовша річка в Україні.

The Dnipro is the longest river in Ukraine.

  1. Україна є одним із найстаріших міст Європи.

Ukraine is one of the oldest cities in Europe.

Round 7Pantomime”

1 narrator: Now we will have a famous kind of game, which is called Pantomime”. I will tell the word to one pupil and then he or she must show it. The guests and other pupils must recognize what is it.

(Superman, Spongebob, Harry Porrter, Pinocchio, Shrek, Cheburashka).

Round 8 “Word Web”

1 narrator:  And now let’s play the game “Word Web”.  You should name word on a definite topic turn by turn. For every correct word you can get 1 point.

(Clothes, sport, food)

3. Conclusion

1 narrator: All competitions have finished. Thank you. It is time to listen to our jury and get to know what team is the winner today.

2 narrator: My congratulations to the winners! I think that you are really the best at English in your class. The team, that has lost, should not be disappointed. I think that next year you will win for sure! But now you will Charters.

1 narrator: So our quiz is over! Good bye everybody!
