Birthday surprise

Sam lives in London. He is ten years old.  Last Saturday morning he was very excited because it was his birthday. He went into the kitchen at half past eight. His mum was there. She smiled but she didn’t say “Happy Birthday”. Sam was sad. He went outside to go skateboarding. He  likes skateboarding and he is good at it. But he crashed his skateboard into the wall. “Oh no,” he shouted. “It’s broken!”

At ten o’clock, Sam’s mum shouted, “Sam, come inside, please.” Sam walked into the house slowly. Then he heard some voices. He went into the living room. All his friends were there and they had a birthday cake for him. They shouted “Surprise!” and Sam smiled. His mum and dad gave him a big present. He opened it, it was a new modern skateboard!
