Тема заходу: “Thanksgiving day”Мета: Створення умов для розвитку соціокультурної компетенції, для формування в учнів інтересу до культури і традицій країн мови, що вивчається; розширювати і поглиблювати культурологічні знання; Сприяти розвитку логічного мислення та слухової і зорової пам’яті, розвивати вміння логічно викладати свої думки. Виховувати шанобливе ставлення до традицій інших народів; пізнавальний інтерес до вивчення англійської мови. Очікуваний результат: вміють говорити та розповідати про країну та її традиції, логічно мислити та викладати свої думки, проявляти пізнавальний інтерес до вивчення англійської мови. Форма проведення: урок-гра. Обладнання: роздатковий матеріал, картки із завданнями.

Хід заходу. Вступне слово вчителя: Good morning, girls and boys! I am glad to see you! Today we are going to have an unusual lesson. It will be a festive lesson. I hope it will be interesting and fun. Teacher: Every nation has its national holidays. And in November Americans celebrate one of the greatest national holidays. Do you know what holiday it is?Students: Yes, we do. It’s Thanksgiving Day. Teacher: You’re absolutely right. Like other holidays, Thanksgiving Day has its history. And now let’s listen to some facts from the history of this holiday. Also, today my helpers will be the Indian, the Pilgrims and the Indian Chief.

Facts from the history. Teacher: Many, many years ago people from England decided to sail to America. They believed they would find their home in America. They were called Pilgrims. They came to America to find religious freedom. The Pilgrim1: On September 16, 1620 we, pilgrims, sailed from Plymouth, England. Our ship was called the Mayflower. On December 26, 1620 we landed at Plymouth Rock, in Massachusetts. The Indian Chief: Their first winter was terrible. The Pilgrims were hungry, sick and cold. Many people died. We decided to help them. So, we brought them bread, vegetables, fruit, corn and other things. The pilgrims were grateful to us. The Indian: When spring came, we taught the Pilgrims to plant corn, to build houses, to hunt, and to fish. In other words, we tried to teach them how to survive in America. The Pilgrim 2: In the autumn of 1621 we had a great harvest and decided to make a feast. We were thankful to the Indians as they had helped us. So, we welcomed them to our Thanksgiving feast.

Wreath Thanksgiving is a time to decorate homes, stores, schools, with various symbols. One of them is a wreath of dried flowers and vegetables. To my mind it's a very nice decoration. Thanksgiving Card Thanksgiving is a day when people send loving messages and warm wishes to their relatives, colleagues and the nearest and dearest. Apple Pie. It goes without saying that apple, pumpkin and cranberry pies are the most popular desserts in the feast. You can see an apple pie. I baked it with pleasure and love. Will you try it?
