LEAD-IN
● Tell Ss you are going to describe a food item, and they must guess which one it is, e.g. ‘It is long and yellow. It is a fruit.’ (a banana)
● Have Ss call out the answers.
● Ask Ss to stand up in turn and describe other foods for the class to guess.

● Get Ss to open their SBs and look at task 1 on page 49.
● Explain to Ss that they are going to read sentences #1-5 and find the matching words from the box.
● Do the matching task for sentence #1 and make sure Ss understand what they should do.
● Ask individual Ss to read out sentences #2-5 and do the matching task.
● Monitor the activity, checking for correct pronunciation.
● Make sure Ss understand the meaning of all the words.
● Have Ss repeat the names of all meals (‘breakfast’, ‘brunch’, ‘lunch’, ‘dinner’, ‘supper’) in chorus.
PRACTICE

● Ask Ss to open their SBs and look at task 2 on page 49.
● Explain to Ss that they are going to read the snack/breakfast/dinner/lunch menus and rewrite them.
● Have one S read out the snack menu and encourage the other Ss to correct it.
● Divide Ss into pairs.
● Have Ss correct the rest of the menus, working in their pairs.
● Ask individual Ss to take turns and read out the corrected breakfast/dinner/lunch menus.
● Ask Ss to brainstorm three dishes they can eat for supper.
● Elicit the words from Ss and have them write those words on the board.

● Allow time for Ss to write the sentences in their notebooks.
● Monitor the activity, checking for correct spelling.
● Ask individual Ss to read their sentences in front of the class.

● Focus Ss’ attention on the picture of a boy (Robert) and his menu.

● Read out the model sentence and make sure Ss understand the task.
● Allow time for Ss to do the task, working individually.
