Ступені порівняння прикметників

Складні форми:

Складні форми утворюють такі прикметники:

1) усі багатоскладові (ті, що мають більш як два склади) прикметники:

beautiful—more beautiful—(the) most  beautiful

2) двоскладові прикметники, які не закінчуються на -у, -er, -le, -ow і мають наголос на першому складі:

careless—more careless—(the) most careless

useful—more useful—(the) most useful

Ступені порівняння прикметників

1.                         big— bigger—(the) biggest

hot—hotter—(the) hottest

sweet—sweeter—(the) sweetest

cool—cooler—(the) coolest

2) у з попередньою приголосною   - змінюють у на і:

easy—easier—(the) easiest

happy—happier—(the) happiest

Якщо кінцевій букві у передує голосна, то цієї зміни не відбувається:

gay—gayer—(the) gayest

3)останню е, опускають:

large—larger—(the) largest

white—whiter—(the) whitest

4) У прикметників strong, young іlongтвимовляється звук [g]:

long —longer —(the) longest

strong —stronger —(the) strongest

young —younger —(the) youngest

У прикметників, які закінч. на букви -r, -rе вимовляється [r]:

clear —clearer —(the) clearest

pure —purer —(the) purest

Прості форми мають такі прикметники:

1) усі односкладові прикметники;

2) двоскладові прикметники, які закінч. на -у, -er, -le, -ow:

happy—happier—(the) happiest

clever—cleverer—(the) cleverest

simple—simpler—(the) simplest

narrow—narrower—(the) narrowest

1. Утвори ступені порівняння простих прикметників.

- Hard, warm, cold, long, short, light, dark, old.

- Hot, wet, thin, red, fat, sad.

- Fine, gentle, late, large, brave, white.

- Wise, wide, thin, fat, large, silly, lazy, crazy, old, bad, little, hard, good, dark, dirty, clean, sweet, sad, fast, happy, gentle, pretty.

2. Напиши подані прикметники в звичайному ступені.

Best, funniest, saltiest, worse, silliest, finest, lightest, happiest, eldest, oldest, biggest, darkest, hottest, sweetest, dirtiest.

3. Порівняй дані предмети, поняття, людей і тварин.

Example: A dog and a puppy, (old, small) — A dog is older than a puppy. A puppy is smaller than a dog,

2. A clock and a watch, (large, small)
3. A bicycle and a car, (expensive, cheap, fast, stow)
4. A tram and a bus. (convenient, cheap, fast, slow)
5. An apple and a candy, (sweet, juicy, useful)
6. A lion and a lynx, (dangerous, strong, weak)
7. A city and a town, (targe, small)
8. Winter and autumn, (warm, cold, rainy, frosty)
9. Autumn holidays and winter holidays, (long, merry, short)
10.                    A girl and a boy, (strong, weak, talkative, tidy, serious)
