Types of Wires:

Wire gauge refers to the diameter of the wire and is measured using the American Wire Gauge (AWG) system. Thicker wires have lower gauge numbers and can carry more current. 

·       Insulation Materials:

Wires are typically insulated with materials like PVC, polyethylene, or rubber to prevent electrical shock and ensure safe operation. 

·       Conductor Materials:

Common conductor materials include copper and aluminum. 

·       Specialized Wires:

Specific applications, like control systems, data transmission, and high-voltage applications, require specialized wires. 

Wire Color Codes:

·       Live (Hot) Wire: Often black, red, or brown.

·       Neutral Wire: Typically white, gray, or blue.

·       Ground (Earth) Wire: Green or bare copper, or green with a yellow stripe. 

Wire Connectors:

·       Wire Nuts:

A common type for connecting stranded wires in residential and some industrial applications.

·       Crimp Connectors:

Used for permanent connections, particularly in applications where a secure and durable connection is necessary.

·       Terminals:

Various types, including ring terminals, fork terminals, and bullet connectors, are used for connecting wires to devices and circuit breakers.

·       Pre-Insulated Connectors:

These connectors come with pre-applied insulation to reduce the risk of short circuits and improve safety.
