Приклад запитання: Read the text.Happiness is … ? Your survey says …So you’re between the ages of thirteen and eighteen. What makes you happy? There have been lots of surveys about teenagers and happiness and they all come to different conclusions. Some surveys say that most young people are happiest when they spend time with their family. Others say it’s when they’re with friends. Some teenagers think that getting good marks at school and passing exams makes them happy and others feel that it’s having a boyfriend or girlfriend that improves their lives. The problem is that there isn’t just one thing that makes everyone happy. Happiness is something different for each of us, and what made us happy last week might not make us happy next week! However, there are some things that can help improve our mood when we’re feeling unhappy. Experts believe that exercise can make you a happier person – but how? Exercise releases chemicals in your brain that are related to a feeling of pleasure. Many people who exercise say that the more exercise they do, the more they want to do. Now we know why! In addition to this, exercise is also good for our physical health. So, if we know that we’re doing something healthy, that should make us even happier! There’s another surprising idea to help make us happier. Although you might think that eating chocolate is bad for you, it seems that it is good to eat chocolate when we’re feeling sad. According to some research, experts say that eating chocolate can make us feel happy. Of course it isn’t healthy to eat too much, but chocolate releases chemicals in the same way that exercise does – and for some people it’s easier and quicker than running several kilometres or working out in the gym! It’s also important to remember that we can’t all be happy all the time. There are times in our lives when things are going well and we feel good. But we can also we happy for brief moments and we should value these as well. For example, perhaps you’re sitting on a beach watching the sun on the water, with friends around you, and you feel happy. Remember that moment! Or maybe your dog does something silly that makes you laugh. Remember it! And when you feel sad, go for a run or eat some chocolate – you’ll soon cheer up!Choose the best summary (a-c).a The text describes what teenagers believe makes them happy.b The text gives tips for teenagers about different ways to be happy.c The text gives some information about how young people feel.

Приклад запитання: Read the text attentively and do the tasks. Why is Charlie so cool ... like? In April 2007, a 16-year-old boy named Charlie McDonnell was studying for his exams. But he was bored, so he turned on his laptop and started surfing the Internet. He soon found a website called YouTube and watched a video of another teenager just like him, sitting in his bedroom and talking to his computer about how bored he was. “I could do better than that!” thought Charlie. So, using his computer and a webcam, he made his first video blog and posted it on YouTube under the name Charlieissocoollike.YouTube started in 2005 and is now the world’s largest video sharing website, with hundreds of millions of users. 48 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute and more than 3 billion videos are watched every day. A large number of those are video blogs: videos of people simply talking to a camera about their lives or things that interest them. In fact, video blogging is becoming more popular with teenagers than television.A few days after Charlie posted his first video, he saw that he had 150 subscribers, so he decided to make more. He soon became quite popular, and a few months later Oprah Winfrey, the famous American TV host, showed one of his videos called How to be English on her programme. In this video, he wears a suit and tie, talks in a funny accent and shows viewers how to make a cup of tea. This made Charlie suddenly very famous in the United States too, and it is still one of his more popular videos, with nearly 3 million views. In January 2008 he reached 25,000 subscribers. As a way to thank his fans Charlie made a video called Challenge Charlie, inviting people to suggest funny or difficult things for him to do in his videos. Challenges included drinking tomato ketchup, wearing all of his clothes at once, giving himself an electric shock and painting himself purple!Charlie also realised he could use his fame to help other people. On his 18th birthday he raised £5,000 for charity by shaving all his hair off on live TV. Topping that, in 2010 he raised more than four times as much when he co-presented a live show on the Internet. He stayed awake for 24 hours performing challenges from viewers. All the money went to the children’s charity UNICEF.But did you know that Charlie is also a singer and songwriter? His most popular videos are of him singing and playing the ukulele. In Duet with Myself, he uses special effects to sing a duet with himself about what a boring person he is. This has now been watched over 7 million times!Charlie’s best friend, Alex Day, is also a musician and video blogger. They met through YouTube when they discovered that they were both fans of the British science fiction series Doctor Who. They decided to form a band together, but this is not an ordinary band: they are called Chameleon Circuit and they only sing songs about Doctor Who! They have now made two albums together and performed several concerts. Their second album, Still Got Legs, reached number 23 in the charts. With more than one and a half million subscribers, Charlie is now the most popular video blogger in the UK. He has now made enough money from YouTube to buy a house in London with his friend Alex. But what is the secret of his popularity? “I just make videos that I would want to watch,“ he says, “and I’m not trying to sell anything.” And when asked how all this fame has affected him, Charlie says, "I'm still a guy who sits in his bedroom talking to his camera, and that's it for me." His honesty and modesty are perhaps the main reasons why Charlie is so well liked. And if you were wondering how Charlie did in his exams back in 2007... well, he passed with nine A grades and one B! He says that he wants to go to university in the future but decided to try and make a career on YouTube before that. So far, it seems to be going very well!Choose the best answer to complete the sentence.Charlie is a ____________

Приклад запитання: My HolidaysOn New Year's Eve a few years ago, I decided to go skiing for the first time with two friends. They are the complete opposite of me in that they are really brave and fearless - they've been skiing and diving all their lives, whereas I'm a bit of a coward. Surprisingly, however, I enjoyed it very much and the second we went I felt much more confident and decided to move away from skiing on the nursery slopes. I was doing really well skiing down quite a steep slope when I heard one of my friends say, "Wow, Barbara, you're moving fast!" I thought, "Yes, I am, aren't I — but how do I stop?" Suddenly all my confidence left me and I fell very badly. I didn't break anything but I twisted my knee. The rest of the holiday was spent sitting on top of the mountain, looking after everybody's bags and coats. If I'm honest, I prefer going somewhere hot and sunny for a holiday, I love going to Thailand, for example, and staying in one of the beautiful resorts on the coast. The people are extremely friendly and in one hotel we stayed at we got to know the chef quite well and he would take us round the market with him. And one of the waiters took us to visit his uncle who owns a coconut farm. It's only in ways like this that you begin to get a feel for the country and its people, as these kinds of opportunities are not available for the average tourist.I'm not a rough-it kind of person: I did enough of that when I was younger. The trouble with me is that I have a genuine problem with mosquitoes -they absolutely adore me! If I get bitten, the bites turn into mini-balloons all over my body. Once when we were travelling by jeep during the monsoon season, the rain was so heavy that we stopped in a village. A young Thai boy noticed this huge bite on my arm, which was going a funny colour, and looked as if it might be infected. He picked some leaves off a tree and made a mixture of them using some salt and a little alcohol and then rubbed the mixture into my arm. You could see the infection disappear: it was amazing, it was like letting the air out of a balloon. I am an actress and generally, after I've finished a run of performances in a play I feel all exhausted, but not too tired to escape! All I want to do is to find a hotel with a fantastic view, a beach, a good book and a mosquito net. My needs are very simple, really, and I just want the opportunity to refresh myself. Sometimes I might consider a holiday in a completely different environment, like visiting a friend in a country cottage or staying in a small bed- and -breakfast place and walking in the surroundings. It's good for my soul.Decide if the sentence is true (T) or false (F).Barbara didn't like her first trip to the mountains.
