Political system of Ukraine

By the form of government Ukraine combines the elements of presidential republic.

A new Constitution adopted on the 28th of June 1998 declared Ukraine a republic. 

Under the Constitution the powers of the government are divided into three branches

The parliament - the Verkhovna Rada is the only body of the legislative power in Ukraine

The highest body of the executive power is the Cabinet of Ministers. It is responsible to the Verkhovna Rada and is accountable to the President
