 The war in Ukraine is one of the largest wars in Europe after WW II.

  The aim of the Russian leader is to redraw the European map by force.

 Ukraine used to belong to Russia and they’re one people.

Ukraine is a sovereign nation with its own language, culture, and political system.

Ukraine used to be a part of the Russian Empire in the 15-19 centuries. 

 Ukraine gained its independence after the collapse of Russian empire but lost it.

 After WWII Europe was divided into countries under the influence of The USSR and the newly formed NATO.

 Ukraine proclaimed its independence in 1991.

When the Cold War was ended NATO began to weaken.

No post-soviet country has become a member of NATO.

Ukraine became a NATO partner in 2004.

 In 2013 Ukrainian government was going to sign the association agreement with the EU and did that.

Ukrainian people started protests when the president refused to sign the association.

 He tried to crack down on the protesters but failed and fled the country.

 After that Russian army invaded and annexed Crimea and captured some regions in the east of Ukraine.

 For nearly eight years putin has held on to these regions and kept Ukraine from moving closer to the West.

The threat of war became real on February 21, 2022.

 A full-scale invasion was launched on February 22, 2022.

World leaders supported Ukraine against the Russian invasion.

A lot of countries around the world are imposing the harshest economic sanctions to slow putin down and sending tons of military aid to support Kyiv.

 Ukraine is fighting back.

Ukraine, Georgia, and Belarus wanted to join NATO.
