A great summer vacation

I'm on the greatest summer vacation! It is so fantastic, I don't want it to end. I'm spending eight days in Paris, France. My best friends, Henry and Steve, are with me. We are staying in a beautiful hotel room in the Latin Quarter, and it isn’t even expensive. We have a balcony with a wonderful view.

We're visiting many famous tourist places. My favorite is the Louvre, a well-known museum. I am always interested in art, so that is a special treat for me. The museum is so huge, you can spend weeks there.

The French food is delicious. Steve’s favorite part of the vacation is the hotel breakfast. He would be is happy to eat croissants like those forever. We're having so much fun that we’re already talking about our next vacation!

Hi Grandma! We’re staying in a really great hotel. It’s got a wonderful restaurant and pool. The food is fantastic and all the waiters are really kind. We can’t play tennis outside, but I like visiting museums and there’s a really famous one in the town. We can go there tomorrow. I can’t wait! Mum’s OK, but she doesn’t like the weather. She says it’s too cold. From our window you can see the river but not the sea! We’re coming home on Saturday. I’d like to come and see you at about eight o’clock. I’ve got a present for you!

        I’m writing about my winter holidays. On January 11th I travelled to Italy with my aunt Polly. We travelled by ship for a week. Of course it’s a long way from America to Europe, but it was really exciting because the ship was very big, and there were shops, cafés, swimming pools, a cinema and a gym on board. First the ship visited Spain and the south of France. On January 18th we arrived in Italy. Then we travelled by train. It’s a wonderful country! We stayed there in a hotel in the mountains. We went skiing every day. I had never skied before, but our trainer was very good. So on the third day I could ski down the hills. It was fantastic! We went back to the States by plane. Our plane to Chicago was on January 28th. It was the first time I have flown by plane. Usually we travel around the country by train or by car. I’ll never forget my journey to Europe! What did you do on holidays? Write soon.
