THE GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE OF UKRAINE

Ukraine is one of the largest countries in Eastern Europe.

It covers an area of 603 800 square kilometres.

Its territory stretches for 893 kilometres from the north to the south and for 1 316 kilometres from the east to the west.

In the south it is washed by the Red Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The major part of Ukraine is flat and only 15 % (per cent) of the whole territory is mountainous.

The highest peak Hoverla is (2,061 m) in the west of Ukraine.

Ukraine has over hundred thirty one  rivers. 

The Dnister is the main river in the country.

There are over three thousand lakes throughout Ukraine.

The largest lake is Lake Yalpuh.

Lake Svitiaz is the biggest lake of Ukraine.

It is a motherland of representatives of more than 1000 nationalities.   

The flora of Ukraine isn't rich in a great variety of plants.

The animal life is unusual and specific.

Ukraine isn’t an agricultural country.
