Unit 5. Lessons 9-11. Revision.

Grade: Forms 1-A,B,V                    L.36    Topic: I can see big and small animals. (Letter I)   

Lesson Aim

  • To encourage pupils to develop their speaking skills describing the pictures/slides, guessind whose shadow is on the picture.
  • To provide opportunities for learners to improve presentation and speaking skills while working in groups and list pictures in logic order, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity.
  • To create a positive atmosphere for learners to develop writing skills watching the video “Letter Ii” and writing it in their workbooks.

Lesson Outcome

By the end of the lesson children will be able to identify animals’ shadows on the screen; recognize and list the pictures of 5 animals in logic order (according to the teacher’s instructions); name the animal/animals on the picture, describe is it big or small and count them; identify in the words, name and write capital and small letters “I”, “i”.

Lesson Objectives

  • To discuss, analyze and describe pictures/slides;
  • To guess whose shadow is on the screen;
  • To create and present a list of pictures;
  • To identify the letters “I”, “i” in the words;
  • To write the letters “I”, “i” in the copybooks

Material

  • Presentation: video “Good Morning!”; slides for guessing game “Whose shadow is it?”; videos “What do you see?”; “Walking in the jungles”, “Letter I”;
  • Two identical sets of pictures, slide with the shadows,
  1. WARMING UP
  1. Greeting.

Good morning children! Video “Good Morning”

Tell me please, how are you? – Slide “Emoticons”

  1. Phonetic.

Hi! Hi! Hi! Please don’t cry! Spell with me I I I. [ai]

  1. MAIN PART
  1. Memorizing. Who can tell me, what did we study last lesson?
  2. Guessing game “Whose shadow is it?”

So children, please, look at the screen and try to guess, whose shadow appears. Don’t forget to raise your hand and be polite. Are you ready? – Yes!

During the game teacher asks “What is it?”, “Is it big or small?”, “What can it do?”.

Children are welcome to practice in speaking: “This is s…”, “It is big/small”, “It can…”

  1. Video Song “What do you see?”

Pupils sing all together and answer the question “What do you see?”

  1. Round of activity. “Walking in the jungles”          To join children into two teams.
  2. Creating a list of animals.

Each team gets its set of pictures of the animals, sheet of paper and glue. Teacher shows the slide with ordered shadows of the animals. Children have 20-30 seconds to remember the order and 2 min to create their own list of animals gluing the pictures on the sheet of paper.

  • Now, please present your lists.
