Objectives (Students will be able to…):
1) learn new topical vocabulary;
2) develop listening and reading comprehension skills;
3) practice using new vocabulary in speaking and writing activities;
4) improve using adjective comparative and superlative forms;
5) learn using offers to develop dialogue speaking;
6) discover the importance of being helpful at home.
Materials to be used: flashcards and pictures of houses and rooms; home/house vocabulary chant video; disc with the text and song for listening; Activity Book exercise (colouration picture) copies with lexical semantic task and text copies for homework.
Procedure
A) Phonetic vocabulary practice: Home/house vocabulary chant. Pupils repeat the names of things in the video in chorus listening to the chant
B) Spelling game. Students spell the words from their vocabulary, others try to guess the words.

The students write the names for the labelled things in the picture.
Students look at the picture and try to remember as many things as possible. They then are grouped in teams and write down the words from the picture. The team whose list is the longest, wins.
CLUES: make the dinner, clean the kitchen, tidy the bedroom, lay the table, sweep the floor, make the beds, wash the dishes, dry the dishes |
