Topic: Jobs

Objectives:

By the end of the lesson students will be able to:

• name jobs and talk about their duties;
• use vocabulary related to the topic;
• use The Present Simple Tense.

Equipment: TV+projector, pictures and cards with new words, CD player, course book «Welcome 2».

1. Opening

• Greeting (Good afternoon, my dear students! Hope you’re well today as we’re going to work with an interesting topic. What’s the topic? You’ll guess later.)
• Warming-up

Now let’s remember something:

*Please name all the season of the year you know.

*Please name all months of the year you remember.

*What are winter (spring, summer, autumn) months?

*What’s your favourite season?

2. Main Part

• Topic Presentation

Let’s guess what we are going to talk about. You should solve the riddle: write down the 1^st letters from “juice”, “orange” and “banana”. What have you got? Yes, “JOB”

• New Words Presentation

*watch video on YOUTUBE

*read the new words (PB p. 44 ex.1)

*Match the word with the picture. (There pictures with jobs on the board and cards with words on the 1^st desk. Children take a card, read the word and stick it near the proper job.)

*Match the activities with the jobs. (Children take a card with the activity, read and put the card near the job.)

• Revise the Present Simple Tense
• Make sentences with the help of the pictures and cards (Farmers grow vegetables. / A farmer grows vegetables.)
• Now tell me, please What do the firefighters (farmers, bus drivers, postmen, bakers, DJs) do?
• Listening (Children listen to the short conversation and answer the questions)
• Reading (PB p. 44 ex. 3)

3. Setting home task

You should prepare a short message and tell What do you want to be and why?
