Урок-дослідження з елементами STEM

Тема: Кольоровий світ. Colourful world.

Мета: повторити вивчені лексичні одиниці – кольори. Формувати навички сприймання на слух, розширити знання учнів про основні та допоміжні кольори, розвивати математичні здібності, розвивати увагу, спостережливість, логічне мислення. Сприяти розвитку пам'яті, усного продукування. Виховувати бережливе ставлення до шкільних та особистих речей.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the lesson the learners will be able to name their favourite colours and do a research (STEM activity) about colours.

Assumed knowledge of learners:

Concept:  colours (green, blue, red, purple, white, yellow, brown)

Recycled language: greetings;

Language support resources:      Realia: bottles with caps, paints

                                                          Templates with differents shapes of objects, BINGO cards

                                                           Flashcards: colours

  1. Teacher greets the learners by saying, “Good morning, class”. Learners respond, “Good morning”
  2. Listening to the song “Hello. What’s your name?” Revising the questions “How are you? How old are you? Where are you from?”
  3. Teacher unite the class into pairs and learners make up dialogues.

  1. Find and name the colour. The teacher sticks the card of a colour under children’s desks. Children go around the classroom and find the colours. Students name the colours they‘ve got. Raise your flashcard if you’ve got green

  2. Making diallogues “What’s your favourite colour?”. Children in pairs ask each other’s a question

-What’s your favourite colour?

- Purple.

4. Making a chart of children’s favourite colours. You can use Power Point for this acitivity.

  1. Game”Guess”. Teacher says “Let’s play a game!” One student chooses one colour (flashcard). The other students try to guess the colour .
  2. Working with a book. Teacher says “Open your books on page 34. Ex. 1. Listen to the colours and repeat.
  3. Find the appropriate colour. A teacher gives templates to children. Children go around the classroom and find the colour.

  1. A song. Let’s listen to the song “I can sing a rainbow”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRTdq0VsLGQ
  2. Teacher says “Let’s play a game “Bingo”. Teacher asks students draw 4 colourful circles. Then teacher says the colours. If a student has got the colour, he/she crosses the circle. If he/she crosses out all 4 colourful circles, a student shouts “BINGO”.

Game “Touch something blue”. Students must find and touch an object to a specific colour in which they are told. The last person to touch the colour is out of  the game.

Consolidation activity

  1. Circle activity. Teacher asks learners to make a circle. Teacher gives pictures of colours one by one. Learners pass the card and name the colour.
  2. Let’s make a project about colours. “Magic colour”. A teacher shows a bottle with some water. What’s the colour of the water? It’s colourless. And now we have to shake the bottle. One, two, three… Look at the bottles. What’s the colour? It’s red. This is magic. Every student has got his own bottle and he needs to shake it and name the colour.

(Teacher puts some paints on the bottles’ caps very carefully and close the bottles. So children can’t see the paints, initially, the water is transparent but when students begin to shake the bottle, the paint falls into the water and colour it.)

  1. Teacher asks students to choose the best part of lesson and put there a picture of a balloon.

A teacher points to their clock and says, “It’s time to finish. Goodbye”
