OBJECTIVES:

• to revise the lexical units concerning the topic “School Subjects”;
• to develop students’ speaking, writing, listening and reading skills;
• to train and expand the usage of the language structure We’ve got Maths on Mondays;
• to teach writing the timetable on different days of the week;
• to make up the sentences using the given example;
• to teach cooperation in pair and group work;
• to maintain the interest in learning English;
• to bring up love and respect to their native country and their native town.

EQUIPMENT: computer, textbook “English 5” by O. Karpyuk, flashcards, personal tasks, song recording.

1. WARMING UP.

Teacher: Hello, everybody. How are you today?

(Pupils’ answers).

OK, all of us are fine, so I hope our lesson will be fine too.

For the beginning we are going to solve a crossword to find out the topic of our lesson. I will read the definition of the word and your task to guess the word.

1. At this lesson you study the plants and animals.
2. At this lesson pupils sing songs and play the musical instruments.
3. At this lesson pupils get to know how the people live in the past.
4. This object is necessary when you write an e-mail or prepare the report.
5. At this lesson pupils run, jump and play different games.
6. At this lesson pupils learn new words, read texts and listen to the dialogues.

Teacher: Can you find out the key word? Yes, it’s “SCHOOL”. So we are going to speak about the school. This is the topic of our lesson.

2. READING.

Text “All About My Class”- pupils read and translate the text in a chain (sentence by sentence).

After reading the text the pupils answer the following questions (understanding checking).

1. How old is David?
2. What is David good at?
3. Who is David’s best friend?
4. Who has got curly hair?
5. Are they a big class?
6. Have they got many friends?

Teacher: Is your class the same or different?

Possible answers:

3. WRITING.

Teacher: Now let’s think about the days of the week and remember our timetable.

Let’s complete the timetable on Monday together r(it’s an example).

Teacher: Now your task is complete the timetables on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. (The work is done in four groups).

5. SPEAKING.

Teacher: Now groups will be presenting their work. All the members of the group come to the blackboard to represent the timetable.

Hello, my name is Artem. I’m ten and a half. I’m a pupil. I study at school number 15. My native town is Bila Tserkva. It is a very big town. It is in Kyiv Region. Our town is very nice. We’ve got a beautiful river. It’s called Ros. We’ve got a nice park in Bila Tserkva. The park is called “Olexandriya”.  It is very well – known in Ukraine. There are many schools in Bila Tserkva. My school is the best one in Bila Tserkva. We study different subjects and learn much new every day. We like our school.
