Procedure

Teacher: Good morning children and our guests! Nice to meet you! We are glad to welcome you at our lesson! I hope you are fine today.

Today we have an unusual lesson. You should be very attentive today, at the end of our lesson you will have a test.

1. Introductory Talk

At first let’s train our tongues. Repeat after me:

London, country, East, West, place, home, castle, Englishmen, proverbs.

As you know, each country has its own proverbs. Proverbs make language more beautiful and more alive. Proverb is the wisdom which goes from generation to generation.

Look at the blackboard. Here you can see some English proverbs. On the table you have the cards with them. Please, find the other half of them. You have 1 minute. Let’s check your answers.

Now I say Ukrainian equivalents of these proverbs, and you show me the English one.

East or West home is best.            В гостях добре, а вдома краще.

Тoday we have an unusual lesson. What is its theme? Let’s see a short film and try to guess what is it about. (video1)

You are perfectly right- it’s about London. So the theme of our lesson is “The virtual excursion around London”.

So today we are going to:

•          listen to information about London,
•          do some tasks,
•          visit famous London places,
•          do a final test

     2. The main part of the lesson

We are going to have a virtual excursion around London.

So, children, it’s time for us to visit London. Let’s read the motto of our lesson “It’s better to see something once then to hear about it a hundred times”. Who can translate? That’s why today at the lesson we’ll try to do so.

Listening

Let’s see this film again and then answer the questions:

1. What kind of city is London? (It is a very big city and a capital of UK)

2. What colour are the buses in London? (They are red)

3. What colour are the taxis in London? (They are black)

4. How many big railway station are there in London? (There are seven)

5. How many bridges are there in London? (It has a lot of bridges)

6. Is there a Queen’s house in London? (Yes, there is) (V1)

Last year we spoke about London and your hometask for today was: to prepare information about London and its sights.
