Lesson

“Getting acquaintance. Review”

Basic competence 

Language competence: Pupils use language from the unit to play a game.

Social and civic competence: Pupils work together to play a game.

Learning to learn: Pupils use previously learnt words to play a game.

By the end of this lesson pupils will be able to: name numbers, colours, animals

Materials:

“Quick Minds’’(Pupil’s Book, Activity Book).
Four bags with the name of the game, dice, counters, 8 pieces of paper for each pupil (cover cards), pictures of animals, coloured sheet of paper for each pupil (for making a counting hand), scissors for each pupil, a ball of yarn, a toy spider, video “Bye Bye Goodbye”(songs for kids).

Warm-up

      Circle activities

   a)  Sing the song 

      Make a circle big, big, big!

      Make a circle small, small, small!

      Hello!  Hello! Hello! Hello!

      Make a circle round, round, round!

      Up and down, Up and down! And sit down!

    b)  Phonetic charging

T:  У кожного з нас є помічник, він живе в теплій кімнаті, де є стеля, підлога, навіть парканчик! Коли відчиняються двері, то видно зразу того, хто там мешкає! Так, дійсно, це язичок – Mr. Tongue. Сьогодні він прокинувся, потягнувся, глянув у віконце /W/ /W/ /W/. Погода чудова! /O/ /O/ /O/! Tа як підстрибне догори  /T/ /T/ /T/. What is your name? (Pupils ask and answer the question ‘What is your name? ‘).

3.      Play the game

Give each pupil a card with animals they have learnt in the introduction unit.

• Say Listen and stand up! (support your instructions with the correspondent body movements)
• Say the animal names. When you say an animal word, pupils who have been given an appropriate animal card, should stand up and sit down.

Т.: Діти, сьогодні я хочу вас привітати! Попереду у вас перші канікули! А що роблять під час канікул? Так, грають. Тому я приготувала для вас 4 гри, але з якої почати не знаю! Допоможіть мені. Давайте пригадаємо лічилочку і визначимось послідовність ігор. Не забудьте приклеїти на пакет з грою номер (1,2,3,4)

( Послідовність ігор залежить від номера).

1. Play the ‘Bingo’ game ( Pupil’s Book, p.20).

• Give each pupil nine small empty cover cards to cover their Bingo boards.
• Demonstrate that each time you call out the number pupils should cover the appropriate number on their Bingo boards. The first player to cover three numbers either vertically, horizontally or diagonally should shout Bingo!
• You may need to play Bingo several times to make sure pupils understand how to play the game.

2. Play the colour game (Pupil’s Book, p.21).

• Divide the class into groups of four. Each pupil needs a counter and each group needs a dice.
• Pupils put their counters on Start here.
• Pupils take turns to throw the dice.
• When pupils land on a square, they must name the number, the color or the animal.
• If they successfully perform the task, they remain on the square.
• If they fail, then they return to their previous square. The other pupils in the group decide whether the task has been performed correctly.
• The first player who reaches Finish is the winner.

Physical activity

One, one, one I can run!

Two, two, two I can jump too!

Three, three, three look at me!

3. Make a counting hand. 

• Give each pupil a coloured sheet of paper with a traced hand.
• Give scissors to pupils to cut a paper hand.
• Show pupils how to bend each paper finger.

    Play the game “Show and count”.

• Take a paper hand, bend 2 fingers.
• The pupil counts the fingers they see.
• Change the roles. The pupil bends some fingers on their paper hand and you count fingers you see.

4. Play the game (Activity Book, p.19).

• Ask pupils to take a pencil.

• Show pupils how to place their pencil in the middle of the game field vertically and how to drop it.

• Name the animal your pencil has fallen down on.

• Pupils take turns holding and dropping the pencil. They name the animal their pencil has fallen on. Play the game in pairs.

      Т.: Подивіться, діти, хто спостерігав за нами, як ми грали? Так, це – павучок. А що він вміє робити? Плести павутинку. А що ми можемо робити? Рахувати вміємо? Давайте допоможемо павучку сплести незвичайну павутинку, павутинку з цифрами (Діти «плетуть павутинку», передаючи клубок ниток один одному, і називають по черзі цифри). Давайте піднімемо її, подивимось, яка вона гарна. Up and down! Up and down! Up and down! (Діти виконують рухи). А якими кольорами ви би розфарбували павутинку? (Діти називають кольори). А яким тваринам ви би показали кольорову павутинку? (Діти називають тварин). Молодці! Гадаю,  павучку сподобалась ваша павутинка і він забере її з собою! А скажіть павучку, який у вас настрій? Побажаємо і йому хорошого настрою!
