Мета: повторити та активізувати лексику по темі «Професії»; вдосконалювати навички вживання граматичного матеріалу Present Simple and Present Continuous; розвивати навички монологічного та діалогічного мовлення; розвивати увагу, логічне мислення, комунікативні здібності учнів; практикувати учнів в читанні, письмі, аудіюванні; виховувати повагу до людей різних професій, пізнавальний інтерес.

Мета: повторити та активізувати лексику по темі «Професії»; вдосконалювати навички вживання граматичного матеріалу Present Simple and Present Continuous; розвивати навички монологічного та діалогічного мовлення; розвивати увагу, логічне мислення, комунікативні здібності учнів; практикувати учнів в читанні, письмі, аудіюванні; виховувати повагу до людей різних професій, пізнавальний інтерес.

• Презентация “Професії”

 Аудіозапис пісні «Peoples’ jobs song”

• Раздатковий матеріал.

Хід урока

I. Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення.

                  1. Greeting.

- Good morning, boys and girls!

And I’m glad to see you!

How are you? Are you ready for the lesson? You know that people must be tolerant to each other, so let’s start with saying compliments.

                    2. Aim.

  The theme of the lesson is “The World of Professions”.

Today you are going to revise words on this topic, practise to use Present Simple and Present Continuous, read and act out dialogue, learn the poem “What are you going to be?” and do many useful tasks. Be active and attentive! The motto of our lesson is “All professions are useful and interesting.” Let’s start our work.

                  3. Warming up

a) Phonetic drills.

Look at the screen, name the sounds and read the words correctly. Game “The best speaker”

[ w ] want, work, wear, waiter, what, where

[ a: ] artist, farmer, carpenter

[ ai ] driver, pilot, librarian

[ ә ] painter, builder, teacher, reporter, baker, doctor, plumber

b) Tongue twister

Phil is a fireman but he takes photos in his free time

c) Speaking

Now, answer my questions

  • What is your father (mother)?
  • Is your mother a doctor (nurse)?
  • Where does your mother/ father work?
  • Does your mother work in a hospital/ in a police station/ in a shop?
  • What do you want to be?
  • Do you want to be a dentist?

II. Основной этап.

  1. Check up homework.

                       Recite your own poem about your future job.

                What are you going to be? What are you going to be?

                 I’ll be a teacher. That’s the life for me.

                2. Actualize the lexical material on the topic. Vocabulary practice

       -Do you remember different professions we’ve learnt at the previous lessons? Look at the blackboard. Here you can see the cards with the names of different jobs in Ukrainian. I forgot their translation. Help me. You’ll have cards with their English equivalents. Stick the correct English words to Ukrainian ones.

  • Now I want you agree or disagree with me. You will listen to my statements, if you agree with me you will repeat my sentence. If you disagree correct my sentence.

1. A reporter paints pictures.

2. A nurse helps doctors.

3. A pilot drives a car.

4. A farmer works on a farm.

5. A fireman works at school.

6. A clown works in the circus.

7. A dentist wears yellow helmet.

8. A cleaner bakes bread.

9. A waiter works in a café.

10. A housewife takes care of a baby.

            3. Relaxation.

                 4. Grammar point. (Present Simple and Present Continuous)

  - Look at the screen and say what people of different professions usually do? Use Present Simple Tense.


  • Now let’s describe next picture. Answer the questions.
  • What is he/she? What does she/he do? Where does he/she work? What does he/ she wear?
  • What is he/ she doing now?

                     5. Reading and speaking.

       -  Read the dialogue in pairs.

  • Kate, do you want to be a teacher?
  • No, I don’t. I don’t want to be a teacher.
  • What do you want to be?
  • I want to be a doctor. Do you want to be a driver, Dima?
  • Yes, I do. I want to be a driver.
  • Change the bold words and make up your own dialogue.

                   6. Listening.

a). Pre-listening activity.

- Look at the card and read the words.

- What words are new for you?

A businessman, a fireman, a nurse, a dancer, a dentist, a plumber, a cook, a tailor, a farmer, a babysitter, a teacher, a driver, a clown, a doctor, a spaceman

- Listen to the song and underline the professions that are not mentioned.
