Introduction
1. Greeting.
T. Good afternoon, children! I’m glad to see you.
Ps. Good afternoon, teacher! We are glad to see you too.
T. Take your seats, please.
2. Presentation of the theme of today’s lesson.
T. The subject of today’s lesson is Hobbies and Pastimes. Today at the
lesson we’ll summarize our knowledge on the given topic. We’ll revise
the vocabulary for hobbies and pastimes, practice our listening, reading
and speaking skills on the topic, practice using Present Simple and
prepositions. We’ll work in groups and pairs. I hope we’ll do our best to
make our lesson interesting and useful. So let’s start.
Main Part of the Lesson
1. Warming up. Game “Microphone.”
T. What do you like doing in your free time? Try to use these phrases:
I like Ving, I’m fond of Ving, I’m good at Ving, I’m interested in Ving.
P1: I’m good at painting. P3: I’m fond of playing the piano.
P2: I like swimming. P4: I’m interested in dancing.
2. Vocabulary Practice.

T. Look, listen and try to remember as many hobbies as you can. It’ll be a
group work. (Watching video). Now you have 1 minute to write the
word combinations you’ve remembered.

b) Doing the vocabulary exercise “My hobby is …”. The task is to match
pictures with the words.

T. Now listen to the School News programme (SB p.20, ex.2).The

A Letter
My name is Ewa and I come from Poland. I live in Krakow. I have got a lot of hobbies and interests.
At school I play hockey and volleyball, and sometimes go swimming with my friends. I’m fond of foreign travel and meeting people. I want to go to America, especially Hollywood because I’m interested in films and I enjoy reading about famous film stars.
My favourite hobby is pop music because I like dancing. My favourite singer is Amy Lee. I like her because she is really good-looking and she sings well.
7. Speaking on your own hobbies.
Pupils’ stories about their favourite hobbies and pastimes.
P1. I am fond of Art. I like dancing. I go to dor town dancing club, I
joined the club when I was 6. We dance folk dances. We meet on
Tuesdays and Saturdays at 4 p,m, I want to be a famous dancer.
8. Writing.
Choose and circle. Complete with the prepositions ‘in’, ‘of’, ‘at’.
