OUR HUMANITARIAN VOCATIONAL COLLEGE

Our humanitarian vocational college is one of the educational establishments of Bohuslav that attracts attention of many school leavers who want to devote their lives to the profession of a teacher, to become a lawyer or an economist.

It is situated in the very centre of the town, on the right bank of the river Ros’ in a very picturesque place. In front of the college there is a monument to a well- known Ukrainian writer I. S. Nechuy-Levitskyi. By the way our college was named after him in 1993 because he is our country-man and he studied here too.

The college was founded in 1967 and since that time it trained many thousands of specialists for primary schools and kindergartens. There are four main departments here: pedagogical, art, law and correspondence.

What does our college look like? It is a three-storey, glass and concrete building. It has many classrooms, specialist rooms, laboratories and workshops. Specialist rooms are used to study mathematics, chemistry, physics and other subjects. These rooms are equipped with appropriate teaching materials, facilities and devices. On the ground floor there is a cloakroom, a dining-room (canteen), specialist rooms. On the first floor there is a gymnasium (gym). We have physical training classes and all sorts of sport competitions are held in the gym. There is the Director’s office, classrooms, specialist rooms and an assembly hall on the first floor. In the assembly hall various events, meetings and concerts take place. We have a large library with a reading room on the third floor. We borrow books from the library and often work in its reading room.

Our college has many good traditions. One of them is a traditional meeting with the students who studied here in different times.

Our students take part in town, local and regional Olympiads, scientific societies and sport competitions where they hold the prize places.

At the disposal of our students there is a hostel.

All this helps to train various specialists: teachers of primary schools and English, teachers of music, drawing, physical training, tutors and lawyers.

Andrew,

We need to change the poster design for film projects.

The client did not like the simple shapes. He thinks that the film requires a more complex poster. He especially did not like the titles in square boxes. In general, the lines are too straight.

I suggest a design with more curved lines. Add some circular shapes so that the poster is not so rectangular. Some straight lines are still okay.

However, use some different angles. Maybe try diagonal lines here and there. That make the theme more triangular. Some

Activity 3. Read and translate the text and answer the questions.

Understanding Light

Photography is harder than many people think it is. However, a good photographer needs skills and precision. Inexperienced photographers often do not understand how light affects their work.

Photographers must consider the value in their photographs. Too little light produces dark pictures. They might even be completely black. Too much light does not produce enough contrast. An extremely bright picture might not show enough details. A clear, sharp picture requires the right balance of light and darkness.

Good photographers will adjust the amount of light in the pictures. Translucent materials limit the light without blocking it entirely. Opaque materials, on the other hand, produce complete shade.

The Critical Eye

Renowned artists Liam Beckett has two new paintings as the fifth street gallery.

The first piece is called “A Morning Pond”. In the painting, the water’s surface is covered with a pattern of leaves. It features soft, smooth and brushstrokes and a very light texture. The colors flow gently, just like the ripples in the water.

The other painting is called “Darkness”. Unlike the first piece, this one is different from Beckett’s unusual style. It features uneven splashes of paint and jagged edges. It also lacks his unusual sense of balance. Some areas are cluttered with too many colors and shapes. Meanwhile, other areas are completely empty.
