BIRDS OF A FEATHER. REVISION QUIZ

Aim:

to revise and practice vocabulary on the topic;

to develop speaking, reading and listening skills.

Objectives:

by the end of the lesson students will be able:

to have knowledge of the vocabulary;

to describe each animal group;

to compare the animal groups.

Procedure

1. Greeting.

-  Hi, my dear friends! Hello, my dear students. I’m glad to see you. How are you today? How’s it going?

2. Presenting the topic.

  • - Let’s start our lesson. Today we’ll revise the topic “Birds of a Feather” and do a lot of different tasks on the topic. So, what is the theme of the lesson? What do we talk about?
  • Animals.
  • Yes, you are right. Today we are going to speak about animals.

     3. Warming up activity.

- We live in the world that is full of the beauty of nature. Animals are the part of our world. To make our lesson more successful let’s revise the words which can describe the animals. Drag and drop each keyword each to its definition.

Self-assessment and evaluating of students’ answers.

- Let’s remember the rules about irregular nouns (слайд 2, 3, 5, 9).

4. Communication. Asking about your pet.

- Now open your textbooks page 45, Ex 20. Read the dialogue quickly. Listen and fill in the missing words. Act out the same dialogue. (Students listen to the dialogue, read, translate and act out it in pairs.)

5. Listening.

Ex 22 p. 45 CB - Read the table for 3 minutes. - You’re going to listen to the audio about two mammals: lions and chimpanzees.

- What do you know about lions? What do lions have? Where do they live? What about chimpanzees? What is new about them? Listen to the audio and fill in the missing phrases. (Students read the table and listen to it, after it all the group will have a discussion about each mammal, what can it d0, where does it live, what has it got, etc.)

6. Revision Quiz.

- And now after the revision of different animals you are ready to have a quiz! How much do you know about the animal kingdom? Take this gigantic animal quiz and find out! How many points will you score? Let’s find out!

7. Summarising.

- We’ve done lot of work today: - we reviewed the names of the animals and their kinds;

-we reviewed what the animal can do and what does it have; -we played games and work with quiz;

- And now I want you to tell me if you liked the lesson or not. Give me your reaction (in Teams) “I liked”, “I don’t know”, “It was not interesting”. Choose your reaction. Unfortunately, it’s time to say good bye. The lesson is over.

8. Homework.

- Writing - P. 45 CB - написати 10 речень про улюблену тварину (по прикладу Ex 21, але текстом)
