The Carpathians are a range of mountains forming about 1,500 km long across Central and Eastern Europe, making them the largest mountain range in Europe. The chain of mountains range from the Czech Republic in the northwest to Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine and Romania in the east, to the Iron Gates on the Danube River between Romania and Serbia in the south. Regions of the Carpathians. Hutsulshchyna. Carpathians are one of the picturesque corners of our Motherland and it is divided into 5 main regions. Boikivshchyna. Lemkiwshchyna. Bukovyna. Pokuttja

Hutsulshchyna. Interesting and unique country is Hutsulshchyna. The majestic hills, the dashing clear streams, the emerald woods with straight and beautiful fir trees that mysteriously shake in the wind and the crystal pure air — this blessed corner of nature is called Hutsulshchyna. It is a unique natural treasure of great beauty and ecological value, and home of the headwaters of major rivers. Covered with forests on it’s tops there are polonyny, multicolored meadows with a great number of medical plants, gurgling streams and rivers with numerous waterfalls and clear fresh air. All this always attracted and will attract people who like nature.

The pearl of Hutsulshchyna. The pearl of the Hutsulian region is Kosivshchyna. Kosivshchyna is not very large mountain district with Kosiv as a center. KOSIVKosiv is like a small paradise. It is because of it’s natural beauty. Crystal-clear waters, fascinating flora, fresh air and the magic smell of summer grass — isn’t it amazing? Picturesque and diverse scenery is everywhere!

The Hutsuls. The Hutsuls are a small-ethnic sub-group of the Ukrainians who live in the Eastern Carpathians. They lived isolated in the mountains and developed craft forms of their own. The Hutsuls have their own traditional lifestyle, culture and traditions.

The Hutsuls. The Hutsuls are famous for their musical culture. Their wonderful mountain melodies attract everyone. The most popular musical instrument is trembita. It is a traditional Hutsul’s instrument, which can be heard from over 10 km. Hutsuls use trembite to inform mountain people about important event.

The Hutsuls. The wooden buildings are perhaps among the Hutsuls’ greatest achievement. The log house with its long verandah under one side of a wide overhanging roof is typical for the Hutsuls. In older times there was also a long fence enclosing the front yard.

PLACES OF INTERESTThe Tamlier Castle(The Seredne Castle)The castle is situated in the flat part of Transcarpathians in the village Seredne. Here you can see only the ruins of the castle, which was built by the people of Tamplier Order.

The Tamlier Castle (The Seredne Castle)According to the legend it was a watchtower of about 20 meters height to defend the village. In the Tamplier Order were monks and knights who took part in the crusades and lived in the monasteries. And this Castle is the only thing that remains about the Tamplier Order.

The Maniava Skit. One of the most famous historical castle of Prykarpattya is Maniava Skit, which is situated in the village Maniava (Ivano-Frankivsk), in the picturesque mountain valley. It is a monastery of the 17 century which was found by the monk Jov Knyahynetskyy. Long ago there was a large library of ancient books.

The Maniava Skit. Above the monastery there is one of the most picturesque Carpathian waterfalls - Manyavsky waterfall, with it’s healing springs. The Maniava Skit is a special,unique and interesting place, hundreds of people come here to admire.

Hoverla. Hoverla (2,061 m) is the highest mountain in Ukraine and part of the Carpathian Mountains. The mountain is located in the Eastern Beskides, in the so-called Chornohora region. The slopes are covered with beech and spruce forests, above which there is a belt of sub-alpine meadows called polonyna. In late 19th century the mountain became a notable tourist attraction. Many people come here to admire this wonderful mountain.

The Green Pearl of Ukraine. The Carpathian mountains dominate the region with their forests, rivers, lakes, towns and villages. The region is rich in culture, activity and history. It is ideal for summer holidays, walking, riding, mountain climbing, exploring. The largest resorts are located in Slavske, Bukovel, Dragobrat. Some of the smaller resorts are in Dolyna, Polyana, Synevir, Yaremche, Kosiv, Yavoriv and others. Undoubtedly, the pearl of the Carpathian Mountains is the area around the village Polyanitsya situated about 920 meters above sea level - Bukovel. This tourist area is unique for its climatic conditions. Summer tourist complex also offers a wide range of services: rest on the mountain lake, guided tours, bicycle rides. Bukovel. Slavske Slavske - the largest Carpathians mountain resort, located 120 kilometers from the city. The unique location of resort creates a microclimate, that’s why snow cover on mountain slopes is kept till the beginning of May. Izki. In the marvelous part of Carpathians,is situated a resort Izki made for all family. You can improve your health and relax without doing anything, because the pure mountain air, spring water compel you feel cheerful and healthy. Yaremche. Resting in Yaremche - it is a harmony and a purity of the town with untouched beauty of the mountains. Dragobrat. The Valley Dragobrat – is a famous Valley of the Ukrainian Carpathians among ski lovers.

Hiking in the Carpathians. In the Carpathians you will enjoy the majority of exiting activities such as: hiking, cycling, riding, rafting, camping, skiing and others…Hiking enthusiasts will find a lot of adventures in the Ukrainian part of the Carpathian Mountains. The Carpathians are very hikeable mountains, with fairly gentle relief and no inaccessible peaks. Here you can enjoy the wildlife of the mountains and be side by side with the nature.

Cycling in the Carpathians. The Carpathians are great for cycling. There is an abundance of automobile roads – both paved and unpaved – which are suitable for cycling, and it is possible to get to any region of the mountains on your bike some way or another. The Carpathians are well-suited for road cycling and for mountain biking.

Riding in the Carpathians. The nature of the Ukrainian Carpathians and riverbanks is suitable for riding. You will enjoy the nature with the help of this extraordinary activity. It is a wonderful, useful and exiting time spending!

RAFTING IN THE CARPATHIANSThe Carpathians have several rivers that are big enough for rafting and kayaking, especially during the spring snowmelt period. There a lot of rivers in Carpathians for rafting: Prut, Stryi, Tysa, Cheremosh and others. The best time for boating is the end of April during the floods when snow melting is the most intensive.

SKIING IN THE CARPATHIANSMany tourists come here to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, sledging. I think, skiing is the most exciting activity in the Carpathians. A wonderful view on the hills covered with snow impressed you at once and you’ll never want to come back.
