T: So , what emotions do you feel? Evaluate your feelings and emotions!

T: I hope you are ready for  our further work.

  1. Aim . Motivating Lead-in .

We live in the fascinating and challenging world of science. It is a world that more and more has come to affect so much of our lives. It is involved with the way we travel, the homes we live in and the clothes we wear. It  gives us fantastic means of communicating and exploring.

The list of the inventions is rather long. We are on-lookers of great scientific achievements such as television and a computer. We can't imagine our life without a notebook or a radio.

T: Today we’re going to deal with  the topic Science and Technological Progress. In particular  we’ll talk about technology, different gadgets that changed our lives. But first of all , let’s give the definition of the word “technology”.

So , look at the screen, read out different meanings of this word and try to find your own definition of “technology”:

  • Technology is human innovation in action.
  • New machines, equipment, and ways of doing things that are based on modern knowledge about science and computers.
  • Technology is practical application of knowledge(science) and skills(techniques) to create solutions which satisfy our needs or solve our problems.
  • The use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes or applications , whether in industry or in our everyday lives.

  • Technology refers to methods, systems, and devices which are the result of scientific knowledge being used for practical purposes.

  1. Vocabulary  presentation.

Teacher : To begin with, I want you to do the following: think of something you could not live without. Which items  are the most important for you? Share your ideas.

( students may say that they can’t live without their cell phones and laptops)

But what about life’s more basic things?

Could you live without a bed? The light bulb? A refrigerator?

  • “TECHNOLOGY”    MIND MAP

  5. Which makes our life easier for us?
  6. Which modern conveniences do you or your parents use every day? Why?
