Teacher : Good afternoon everyone.
I’m glad to greet you in a cheerful and merry mood.
But to keep your spirit up even more let's say our slogan :
T: So , what emotions do you feel? Evaluate your feelings and emotions!
T: I hope you are ready for our further work.
We live in the fascinating and challenging world of science. It is a world that more and more has come to affect so much of our lives. It is involved with the way we travel, the homes we live in and the clothes we wear. It gives us fantastic means of communicating and exploring.
The list of the inventions is rather long. We are on-lookers of great scientific achievements such as television and a computer. We can't imagine our life without a notebook or a radio.
T: Today we’re going to deal with the topic Science and Technological Progress. In particular we’ll talk about technology, different gadgets that changed our lives. But first of all , let’s give the definition of the word “technology”.
So , look at the screen, read out different meanings of this word and try to find your own definition of “technology”:
Teacher : To begin with, I want you to do the following: think of something you could not live without. Which items are the most important for you? Share your ideas.
( students may say that they can’t live without their cell phones and laptops)
But what about life’s more basic things?
Could you live without a bed? The light bulb? A refrigerator?

It can be difficult to evaluate the importance or worth of an invention, but let’s try to do it.
Teacher: Well, now let’s see what can you do with some gadgets.
Look at the pictures and phrasal verbs. Match the opposites.

Turn down – to reduce the amount of sound, heat, or light produced by a piece of equipment by pressing a button or moving a switch Can you turn the music down a bit? Put down – to put(place) something that you are holding on the surface

I’ve found a video about important inventors and their inventions. Let’s watch it and make our own list of the most famous and necessary inventions.
(Pupils watch the video then name the inventions they think to be the most useful giving some proofs.)
But let’s do this task in groups of 4.
You should not only to watch this video but also to find out some interesring facts about these inventions and be ready to present it for the class. Ready?
